Ballinrobe Musical Society presents Come the Dawn

THE MUCH loved fairytale Sleeping Beauty will be brought to the Galway stage by the Renmore pantomime, starting tonight and running until Sunday January 16.

Ballinrobe Musical Society have launch their new production for 2011, the revised world première of Come The Dawn, written and composed by Peter Kennedy. Kennedy has been with the society for some 13 years as producer/choreographer; however this will be the first time the society has undertaken one of Peter's own shows. As the society had been so warmly received and rewarded for the efforts of The Pirate Queen earlier this year, it was felt that it was important to continue telling our stories.

It’s the third week of rehearsals for Druid’s forthcoming production of The Silver Tassie and this week we talk to the five young people from Galway we will be seeing on stage in just a few weeks. Lara Connaughton, John Gaughan, Martin Kenny, Peadar O’Goill and Miriam Ward all auditioned through Druid’s open auditions process last June.

Following its highly acclaimed presentation in the Town Hall Theatre, Galway, Who Killed The Celtic Tiger commences a mini-tour that begins in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, on Friday May 7. Is Jedward’s career over before it even starts? Can Bono and Geldof show charity to the Irish people? Is Daniel O’Donnell really emigrating? Where has Willie O’Dea gone? Can Fairy Harney, Bertie Ahern, Biffo the “Bare”, and “End-it” Kenny find a solution to the recession? Can Michael O’Leary succeed where others have failed?

WEST SIDE Story, one of the great American musicals, will be staged in The Black Box theatre by Encore Theatre Company from November 7 to 14 with a matinee and evening performance on Sunday 9.
